Nickname: Boomer

Education: Riverside Elementary, Birdville Elementary, R. Vickery Elementary, Ft. Worth, TX
Chamberlain Elementary, Clarendon Junior High, Clarendon, TX
Alanreed High School, Alanreed, TX
Quit school in tenth grade to get married (quit school twice and kinda' got behind. I was 18 when
I quit and got married. The teacher was threatening to turn me over to the draft board if I
didn't "straighten up".)

Worked on the farm most of the time. Did a little Ranch work. Wanted to be a Cowboy until I got
bucked off a horse and broke my arm, at age 15. Quit school at age 16 and left home to find
my fortune. Worked a while as a Laborer, got hungry and decided to go back home and get some
more schooling. After getting married, went to California, worked a little in the oil patch,
got homesick for my 16 year old bride and came back home. Drove a truck for awhile, worked on
an oil pipeline and in a cement plant. Got tired of being broke and not being able to support
my wife properly, so I did the smartest thing I ever did in my life. I joined the Air Force.
Got an eleven week vacation at Lackland, Flight 264, 3702 BMTS. A3C Loop and A2C Cook were my TI's.

Went to Lowery AFB and attended 21 weeks of school on the K Series Bomb/Navigation System from May
until November 1954. Also took my high school GED and passed it and then took the college level
GED and passed it also. (Surprised the hell out me, too).

Got assigned to the 4924th A&E maintenance Squadron, 4925th Test Group (Atomic) Kirtland AFB, NM.

Returned to Lowery to go to school for twenty two weeks on Optics and Stabilization systems.
(Bombsights and gyro platforms with a little compass stuff thrown in.).

Worked on the B 36, B 47, and B 52s. Was assigned as in flight technician on the B 47 and B 52 in
1959. Was among the first to receive pro pay. Got P 2 when it came out. Got back from a mission
one day on a B 52, put up my flight gear, checked in at the shop and was informed that I was
busted for "lack of proficiency" to a three level. Pissed off some flight crews cause they liked
the job I was doing for them but wasn't much they could do to help. I was told I could take a
reduction in rank commensurate to my skill level or cross train and regain a five level in six
weeks. Went to AGE in FMS, got my five level in less than the required time, went to school at
Chanute, came back, tested and got my seven level, and was put in charge of the Repair Section of
AGE, with about twenty five guys working for me.

Volunteered to cross train into munitions in 1965. Went back to Lowery for Munitions School and
was soon on my way to Okinawa, 400 MMS, NCOIC Classified Conventional Munitions Maintenance Shop.

Went from there to Charleston AFB, AGE 437 FMS. July 1967. Was in hospital from late July
until October 1967.

Sent TDY as Ammo in March 1968 until May 1968 to Korea (Kunsan and Taegu). Clearing in from TDY
and was handed orders for Korat, Thailand. Was there from July 1968 until Aug 1969. 388MMS, NCOIC
Fuse and Component Shop.

Reassigned to 23rdTFW at McConnell AFB, Munitions Maintence Management, Aug 69-Feb 71.

Reassigned to 12TFW,Mar 71-Oct 71. Finished my tour at Bienhoa.

Arrived Mountain Home April 1972, Wing QC for Munitions. Retired May 1974.

Went to school at Tarrant County Junior College for two years, recieved an Associate Degree in
Applied Science, moved back to Clarendon, Texas and worked four years as Service Manager in two
GM dealerships.

Went to work for Mason and Hanger, Silas Mason and Company, Inc. in Aug 1980 and retired there
in Jan. 1997. That's where I worked on nuclear weapons. I left out some, but I didn't want to
bore you. By the way, I,m still married to that 16 year old bride. Be 49 years in June. Boomer.

Brian Danielson

Raised in Kenyon, MN. Went to Saint Olaf College and played football, graduating in 1990. Accepted into and attended the Navy Aviation Officer Candidate School, graduating in December 1992 with a commission in the US Navy. Attended flight school in NAS Pensacola graduating in the Summer of 1994 having accepted orders to NAS Whidbey Island to fly the EA-6B. After completing initial training in the EA-6B, was assigned to Air Wing 14 aboard the USS Carl Vinson on a Western Pacific deployment in the Spring of 1996 flying sorties in the No-fly zone and participating in Operation DESERT STRIKE, which took out strategic positions and raised the no fly zone another 60 miles to the north. After returning from that depoyment Air Wing 14 was moved to the USS Abraham Lincoln where we completed another deployment in the Spring of 1998 supporting further strikes in retaliation for terrorist actions. After an initial extension to support the War in Kosovo, was ordered to VAQ-129 to perform Instructor Duty for new aircrew flying the EA-6B. Completing 11 carrier qualification detachments and many other detachments to NAF El Centro, was selected for the EA-6B Weapon School Instructor Course, modelled after the Fighter community "Top Gun" training syllabus. After completing the training was sent to VAQ-209 in NAF Washington on Andrews AFB. While attached to VAQ-209, completed a deployment to Incirlik, Turkey to fly in support of the Northern No-fly zone completing strikes in support of the Kurds. In 2004 was sent to the staff of CENTRAL COMMAND as the Electronic Warfare Officer, spending time in Baghdad's Camp Victory and in MacDill, Fla. Upon completion of the CENTCOM staff tour was sent on a deployment to Iwakuni, Japan in support of the PACOM theater, and then a follow-on deployment to Al Asad, Iraq flying combat missions in support of the global war on terror. Prior to that deployment, was selected for duty with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command as the only family member to take part in a mission to search for the remains of his father, CAPT Ben Danielson, member of the 558th TFS of the 12 TFW. On the trip to Mu Gia pass, Laos, spent 45 days digging and performing serach operations to complete case 1535. While this trip was unsuccessful, concurrent operations had turned over enough evidence to complete the case. In the summer of 2007, a fitting tribute was given to Major Danielson, which was attended by all ranks and members of the 12th TFW, and over 1,500 concerned patriots. It was a day to be remembered. At this time, I am stationed back in NAS Whidbey Island performing Instructor Duty for new aircrew flying the EA-6B. I have over 2,850 total hours of flight time flying in the F/A-18, F-14, and the F-4 Phantom, with over 2,700 hours and 600 carrier landings in the EA-6B. I have a lovely wife Pam and three great kids, Ben (12), Will (8), and Jennifer (5). Awards are a few Air Medals, Navy Commendation Medal, a few Navy Achievement medals, and other individual and unit awards.

		   Weapons Loading Standardization Crew

Trained and certified as the 2 man on weapons load crews at Holloman and Vietnam. In Thailand, worked in the preload area for 8 months, then finished tour
as a load crew chief. I was a 2 man on the Standardization Crew. The 2 man was responsible for setting up switches for electrical functional checks,
helping prep fuses, loading weapons onto aircraft, etc. As a member of the Standardization Crew, I was responsible for maintaining/updating Tech Orders
pertaining to the aircraft we worked on.

As a member of the AF Reserves, I was part of a squadron responsible for loading cargo on cargo aircraft. Got my first trip to Hawaii during our 2 week active
duty training period.

Some memories of my military time:
While going through mobility exercises at Holloman, was given a yellow fever
Shot which made me extremely sick for about 48 hours. Never ever had another
             Experience like that again.

In Vietnam, became very proficient and efficient at getting weapons onto aircraft.
I remember rice bugs flying around and causing one a big headache if you got hit
There by one. Spent lots of off time recording music to my reel-to-reel. Tried to
Take pictures as much as I could, but wound up with way fewer pix than I would
Have liked. Of course, we didn’t have digital cameras back then either.

At Nellis, I was introduced to a young lady on a blind date whom I married after
Knowing her for only 3 months. We are still married and this year will celebrate
39 years together. We have 4 boys and 10 grandchildren, 4 boys and 6 girls.

Made SSgt my first hitch, but never attained any higher rank. My training instructor in tech school would "promote" me to major if I did well on
my switch logy, or bust me to corporal if I screwed up. He must have been ex-Army.

I remember helping load guided bombs when they were being tested at Nellis. Details are fuzzy, but I do remember working with them.

Civilian experience:

Been working as a staff pharmacist as well as a pharmacy manager for a regional
Discount store for the last 19 years. Sometimes the job is great, sometimes I wish
              Was retired…. :-)

Loni and I have enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, we’ve been there several times. A couple of them were with my youngest son, Paul, who is a pastor.
We have also been to Israel once, which was a great experience, and have been to San Antonio to visit our son, Paul, and his family.

I was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut and I'm proud to be a damn Yankee.

I joined the Air Force in 1964 right out of high school instead of going to college, which made my father very unhappy. After Basic Training with the 3703 BMTS at Lackland I attended the Aircraft Electrical Repairman Course, 42330, at Chanute AFB, IL. After completing tech school my assignments were: 397 BW (SAC), Dow AFB, Bangor, Maine [B-52G, KC-135A, F-101C]; 12 TFW (PACAF), Cam Ranh Bay, RVN [F-4C, HH-43]; and 3615 FTW (ATC), Craig AFB, Selma, AL [T-37, T-38]. At all bases I also worked on other aircraft including transients so I got some good experiences. In fact, my first F-4 experience was with a transient bird at Dow. On a Friday afternoon they couldn't get electrical power to come on and I didn't have any tech manuals for reference so they elected to stay for the weekend. They came in Monday morning, fired it up and left. That's when I learned about the quick disconnect plug in the rear cockpit. What a sneaky flight crew.

While at Dow, I got my chamber card to fly on the B-52s and KC-135s if they needed a maintenance guy on board. However, when I returned to Dow with the new card I went to the CBPO to check assignment possibilities and was told I would be going nowhere because I was on my first tour. Then, on Friday of that same week, President Lyndon B. Johnson visited the base and I got to shake his hand. The following Monday morning I got orders to Cam Ranh Bay. Was that a coincidence? I think not, so I always thank LBJ for getting me into the 12 TFW. Prior to my PCS to CRB I spent 6 weeks at humid MacDill AFB to learn the F-4C systems.

From CRB, I went to Craig AFB, AL to complete my four year tour and then returned home to go to college because I agreed with my father to do that. I was transferred to the inactive AF Reserve to complete my 6 year obligation, but after about 12 months I transferred from the AF Reserve into the CT ANG's 103 FW to work on the F-102 and then the F-100. And then it finally happened. While supporting a TDY to Shaw AFB, SC, my chamber card finally came in handy. I got a ride in an F-100F because the rear seat was empty and the pilots decided I deserved a ride. Talk about being happy! I'll never forget the afterburner take-off!!

I received my commission in 1973 and became an Air Weapons Director with the CT ANG's 103 TCS. I enjoyed more TDY's to support exercises so I got more good experience and a good reputation. In 1979 I was a member of the Joint Control Group for Joint Exercise Solid Shield 79, during which several messages regarding my submitted operations events were mistakenly sent to the desk of one Jimmy Carter. From all the message traffic they were getting, they wanted to know how E-3 AWACS operational support was lost and an F-15 was potentially in enemy hands so I had to explain what I was doing so they could defuse the misinformation. That stint got me a Joint Service Commendation Medal and then I was recalled to EAD and assigned to HQ TAC, Langley AFB, VA, to manage the computer programmers for the 407L Tactical Radar system. I was also the first Air Operations Test Manager for the Worldwide Military Command and Control System.

I was transferred to the Pentagon in 1982 to be an ADP Liaison officer for the OJCS. I worked on Ops Team 4 and managed several computer systems that provided status of operational forces information for contingency planning and direction. I also gained good experience in diplomacy since I was providing information to Federal agency and department heads and briefing the CJCS. I did such a good job that the Air Force passed me over for major and exiled me to Oklahoma. In 1986 I was transferred to the 28 AD, Tinker AFB, OK to be an E-3 AWACS Requirements Officer and headed the aircrew training office. In 1990 I transferred to the Communications Systems Center where I managed weather communications systems and the World Wide Meteorological Intercept Communication System. I retired from there in 1993.

I spent the next 10 years mostly unemployed, but in 2003 I finally was offered a federal civil service Information Technology job in the same office I managed when I was recalled to EAD in 1979. The systems were different, but the basic requirements were the same, testing and verification. In 2009 I was offered an Information Assurance position with the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM so I accepted it and transferred to the Great American Southwest. With unwelcome changes coming to the federal system I elected to retire in 2012. Now I am "Surviving" and "Enjoying" my retirement life, with the privilege to go where I want whenever I want, and without the need to answer to anyone except God.

During my career I completed Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, the Joint Command, Control, and Communications Staff and Operations Course, as well as others. I am CompTIA Security Plus certified and maintain a TS clearance, but I don't intend to return to work unless it's something that will add to my happiness. I hold a commercial pilot's license with instrument rating, but don't expect to do anymore flying. From now on it's simply "Survive" and "Enjoy" life until I "head west" to join my military buddies.

Bobby Sutton

Born August 16th, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama, moved to Dallas Texas shortly thereafter, moved back to Birmingham while in the third grade and attended Edgewood Elementary till the sixth grade then attended Homewood Junior High till the ninth grade and then went to Shades Valley High School. Graduated in 1965 after being redshirted my senior year. Graduated May 1965 and left for the USAF in June 65 as I was pre enlisted. Arrived at Lackland AFB June 1965 for basic training. After basic was assigned to Jet Engine Mechanics Tech School at Chanute AFB, IL. While in my last two weeks of tech school, my reassignment orders were redlined and was told I would be sent to USAF Instructor School and assigned to Chanute AFB to teach Jet Engine Systems and Repairs. Was reassigned to Air Training Command from the Tactical Air Command and stayed at Chanute till an opening came up in 1967 for reassignment at Amarillo AFB, TX. at the Tech School for Jet Engines. Stayed at Amarillo till they announced the base was to be closed in late 68. I volunteered for duty in Vietnam and finally was granted transfer to the Tactical Air Command, 12th Tactical Fighter Wing at Cam Ranh Bay. Was sent to MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL, for F-4 training and familiarization. After the school there was sent to Cam Ranh Bay, arriving 3 days before TET, 1968. There was assigned to the 12th FMS, Propulsion Branch assigned to the flight line dispatch shop. Stayed there until was told in late 68 that I was to be sent to Phu Cat AB with the 37th TFW, as they had the F-100, for which I was already trained on the engine used in that plane. Left Phu Cat in 1969, and went back to Cam Ranh Bay and was rotated back to McCord AFB and was discharged. At the time of discharge I was a E-5 SSgt with a AFSC of J43250 and a secondary AFSC of TJ43250.

After separation went back to college at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and afterwards went into the Motorcycle business which I co-owned and then went into the retail automobile business in 1973. Retired from car business in 2006 and went back to Motorcycle business where I originally started. (Died 25 Oct 2022)
