(From the Surfside Sentinel, Cam Ranh Bay AB, RVN, 29 Nov 68)
Gen. Creighton W. Abrams, MACV commander sent the following message to the officers and airmen of the 12th TFW on the occasion of the wing's anniversary.
"On behalf of the Military Assistance Command Vietnam, I extend my congratulations to the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing on the occasion of the 28th Anniversary of its activation.
"During the past year, your third in Vietnam, you added a long list of achievements to your enviable record and contributed significantly to the progress made against the enemy. You have flown your F-4's in excess of 60,000 sorties over both North and South Vietnam, supporting ground troops in many of our most bitterly contested actions; Dak To, Khe Sanh, Cam Duc, and A Shau Valley. The destruction you rained on the enemy helped gain victory in each of these battles.
"I salute you as most worthy members of the United States team in the Republic of Vietnam and wish you continued success in your future operations."
